Deputy Chief Randy K. Henson (I)

Randy HensonDeputy Chief Henson started his law enforcement career in 1977 as an auxiliary officer with the Acworth Police Department. He attended Basic Mandate Training with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office and eventually returned to the Acworth Police Department, where he stayed until retiring as Chief in 1999.

After approximately two years as an investigator with the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, he was recruited to Austell Police Department in 2001. Since joining Austell PD, Deputy Chief Henson has been responsible for conducting training, commanding the Special Response Team, and contributing to all aspects of the day –to-day operations of the department.

Deputy Chief Henson is certified to instruct General Topics, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, and Emergency Vehicle Operations. He graduated from the 189th session of the FBI National Academy.

Deputy Chief Henson has been married to his wife of 46 years; Nancy, with whom he shares one daughter; Ashleigh, and two grandchildren; Zoe and Zander. An interesting side note: Deputy Chief Henson was born in 1955 at Dr. F.B. Clark’s office, who's building still stands only a short distance from the Austell Police Department headquarters.
